Praveen Weerakkody is a corrosion and integrity engineer with a multidisciplinary background in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) at Curtin University. He was awarded the 2021 WASM: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering PhD Scholarship through the QEERI–Curtin Corrosion Research Alliance. He recently completed his PhD at the Curtin Corrosion Centre, specialising in sour-service corrosion, Sulphide stress cracking, and the performance of high-strength steels in aggressive environments.
Praveen combines advanced electrochemical testing and surface characterisation with reliability-based and probabilistic modelling to deliver practical, data-driven asset integrity solutions. His experience spans research and engineering consultancy, including pipeline and subsea integrity assessments using CFD and Monte Carlo methods.
He is also an active leader within the Australian Corrosion Association and is recognised for his analytical approach, professionalism, and commitment to high-quality outcomes that enhance safety, performance, and asset life.
